If you have a pet, you know they can spend an incredible amount of time doing nothing.
Which makes me ask the questions, “Have we really evolved for a million years to live this lifestyle? Is this the epitome of our civilization to date? If we could design a perfect lifestyle, what would it look like?”
We wake up to an alarm clock, don’t eat a good breakfast because we are late, work all day (not play), and fall into bed too late at the end of the day to get a full night’s sleep. All the while feeling like we aren’t doing enough. That’s not civilized in my books. That’s crazy.
For your inspiration (and the inspiration for this post) take a look at how a couple of Ospreys spend their time. You’ll find it oddly mesmerizing.

What changes can you make in your life to bring you more in line with a civilized life? Get to bed earlier? Eat better (Eat food, not too much, mostly vegetables )? Spend more time with friends? Spend more time alone? Move more?
Glad I stumbled across this post, because it relates to a thought I had recently… When people think about how to spend their time and how to live life to the fullest, some inspiring quotes come to mind. People will say to do one thing each day that scares you, or to live each day as if it were your last, etc. My new philosophy as of late is to do one thing every day that makes it a day worth living. Something small even. And to always try to find one thing each day to be excited about. Even if it’s just lunch with a friend, something to look forward to, so that when you wake up in the morning, you’re grateful to get out of bed and have even just that one day to be alive!
That’s great Michelle. You are absolutely right. It’s not always the big things that are important, but real things done mindfully.
You’ve got me thinking about what I’ll do today to make this day special.
Thanks
