There are two reasons why everything starts with you.
1. Everything is perceived by you and seen through your lens.
2. Your situation is the sum total of all the decisions and actions you have taken to this point.

By everything I mean your life, business, relationships, situation etc.

I don’t believe that there is one ‘truth’. Everything is perception. That perception is shaded by our mood, the situation we just left and of course by all our experiences to date.

Imagine you are walking down the street and you see a client across the way and wave. They walk on without acknowledging you. Let’s suppose they left their glasses at home and didn’t make you out. How you process that ‘reality’ is all perception. Do you assume they are angry? Snobby? Afraid? Flighty? Preoccupied? Selfish? Provocative? Non-confrontational? The way you react has nothing at all to do with the intent(or not) or the reality of that person.

Brain science shows that people perceive the world differently. This means that much of our reality, being in our minds, can be changed in our minds. Without changing anything in the outside world. Think about that for a moment.

I hate my kitchen. It doesn’t function well. It’s shabby and ugly. I can’t afford to fix it right now. I can see it as a failure to provide, or all that I deserve, or a work in progress, or a great project to tackle when the time is right. I can recognize how grateful I am it isn’t a dirt floored, open fired, dark room. I can do what I can to keep it organized and clean.

Without changing a single thing in my kitchen I can vastly improve the quality of my life and how I feel about myself.

Your turn. How can you change your thinking around something in your life?

Your situation is the sum total of all the decisions and actions you have taken to this point.
It is the culmination of every tv show, book, movie and discussion you have had.
It is the result of every repair not made, call not made and risk not taken.
It is every thing you bought instead, every wasted hour on ‘research’ and every mindless habit.

Your life is what you make it.
It is the idle time for deep thinking and deep connection.
It is traditions and play and caring.
It is how you spend your time.

The only way to change the way things are is to do things differently.

2013 can be your best year ever, IF…
you take responsibility
and push out of your comfort zone
and be willing to fail (because you will and that’s okay, we’re here for you)
and be thankful for all you have
and do things you never thought you could – because you can!

You are amazing and you deserve all the best life has to give.

Your challenge this week is to acknowledge that you are the boss of you and that all the things you hate in your life are of your making; and to be thankful for all the things you love in your life.
